rustydragonflyYeah I don't think this one is going to be done at 60K after all. Let's see if I can manage 70K. 75K would be nice, but I'm still not sure how far this thing is going to go, and I'm staring down the ending here. There's a whole lot of running back and forth at the moment, but pretty soon the characters are going to converge, and when they do, the end is close.
My other possible goal is to finish on Saturday night/Sunday morning at the overnight write-in for London. But that all depends on if I can stay coherent until 7AM, although... I'm pretty sure I can. Whatever happens I'm holding off validation until I'm done. I was surprised when I woke up and saw that it was open already, but I need something to keep aiming for. So no purple bar just yet. Green's pretty cool too.
Been slow too, but I blame that on the post 50K cooldown and wanting some calm days before I start up again. I also had a few moments of looking back and going "well, this is shit" but I blame that on the fact that the plot is getting serious, and I'm trying to write darker scenes while remembering these are fictional characters and they're hunting down the Traveling Shovel of Death... and i have to again remember that this doesn't stop them from having real feelings and emotions. And just... never, ever let anyone tell you crackfic is cheap. It is not. It is very, very difficult to pull off well and I'm struggling with that balance. But it's going to be cool. This is one of the hardest stories I've written, but it's also turning out to be one of my favourites. I love the characters, I love their weird adventures, and I just want to do them all justice, that's all.
I need sleep. I need to horde it while I can.
